We have launched on last Oct 07 the first of a flotilla of 4 very unique, authentic and charming Sampans named "Song Xanh Cruise", designed for travellers looking for "private" cruise experiences in the Mekong Delta. On board, two spacious spaces of 15sqm each are equipped with beautiful bamboo and rattan furniture, creating a very charming atmosphere. A very attentive service is provided by a team of 4 crew members"

Each sampan will carry a charming rowing boat ("Xuong"), nicely designed for deeper cruises along small canals and arroyos during the itinerary.

The Mekong Delta (Vietnamese: đồng bằng sông Cửu Long “Nine Dragon river delta”) is in southwestern Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of distributaries. The Mekong delta region encompasses a large portion of southeastern Vietnam of 39,000 square kilometres (15,000sqmi). The size of the area covered by water depends on the season.
The people living in the Mekong Delta make their living as farmers and fishermen.
One of the most endearing sights in the Mekong Delta is a person making their way across one of the fascinating 'monkey bridges' (cau khi).
The Mekong River travels over 3,000 miles on its way to the sea, where its journey terminates at Cuu Long, the famous Mekong Delta. The name means ‘nine dragons’ – the nine mouths that wend their way across the 62,160km2 of canals, channels, silt islets and mangrove swamps that comprise the delta. Believed to have formed over 6,000 years ago, it is one of the most productive rice-growing regions in the world.

My wife and I just returned from 10 weeks of traveling around Asia. We especially enjoyed the 3 days we spent on the Song Xanh Mekong Cruise. The staff on board together with our guide were wonderful - very personable, hospitable, helpful, and a joy to be with.
